D BIG day!

A few weeks ago, I was in front of my lab computer browsing online for some articles regarding my topic when I received an email from Marco Houterman (Alumni Office - Utrecht University)regarding a drinks event for the alumni, as a part of the fund raising campaign of the UES... Although Marco insisted thats it was going to be informal, I personally felt it was "formal" after looking at the formal dressing of the crowd... I also have to mention that I was the only guy probably in the crowd wearing casuals... Anyways, the evening started with a half-Dutch half-English opening speech, of which I could comprehend the gist, thanks to my previous Dutchie" experiences... It was a very nice experience to speak to the alumni, about their experiences in their time in this university and the way it helped shape their future... The evening provided a great opportunity for me to interact with the other students who have received the UES and ofcourse, the potential sponsors... In a way, it was a big day for all of us UES students to do what this weblog stands for, raising more funds for the UES... And it was quite a successful evening for this endeavor... Frankly speaking, I felt such one to one interactions between the students and the potential sponsors are a big boost to this campaign and such BIG days mark the arrival of an early spring to this campaign...
