Spring Break

The past weeks it was difficult to keep up with the blog because I had been away from Utrecht enjoying some holidays with friends. Last term finished successfully. We had a 45 minute oral exam, which was a challenge but also very interesting. The course, called Sustainability Challenge, has been my favourite so far. Here we disccussed mainly the relation between state, market and civil society actors and the possibility of new societal configurations. We had to work in pairs and I worked with my good Dutch friend Naomi. Although, we have very different working styles - imagine the contrasting Mexican and Dutch sense of urgency for example - we did very good in every assignment.
After some months without a break, I decided that it was time to do some travelling in Europe and visit some friends. First, me and some friends from Utrecht travelled to Barcelona for a week, where we meet with friends from highschool and familiy. The group was formed by people from four different countries, most which had never met before. This made it even more fun! We enjoyed the weather, food, cultural attractions, and most of all, the bars.
Then I travelled to Liverpool where a friend from Mexico is also studying a Masters in Advanced Material Engineering. We had a lot of fun following the footsteps of the Beatles and listening to new upcoming bands.
To enjoy the last days of the break, yesterday I went to Scheveningen to have lunch at the beach overlooking the ocean. Me and my friends found a really nice place to eat, which reminded me a little about Mexico because of its bright colors and the music playing. It was windy but sunny, the summer is comming!
On Monday a new term begings and the holidays are over. Hopefully it will be as interesting and engaging as the last...
