2008.NOV.A -- Dag~ Linguists

The Netherlands is famous for its quantity and quality of scholars as well as professors in the field of Language, many of whom, I believe, call themselves linguists. The notation of linguists will be used in the following of this essay.

I came to this country 3 months 4 hours 27 minutes and 18 seconds ago because I hold this belief that I can be one of the linguists if I come to a country full of them. Empirical evidence keep on telling me that I am right:
The first person I talked in the bar is a linguist. (Mike, I remembered)
My neighbour living in the ground floor sharing the same street number is a linguist. (Cora, who lost and found her dog Sammi, congratulations)
Last week on my train to Eindhoven the lady sat beside me is a linguist, who graduated from the same department of Utrect University 18 years ago. (Inne, the name she calls herself, I can't spell Dutch correctly yet. But I remember what she said: Send my regards to Eric.)
All the people I met in Janskerkhof 13 are more or less linguists.
In summary, 90% of people I met in the Netherlands are linguists.

Based on Statistics I learned from UU summer school, (one week's course) it can be deduced that at least 9% of population of the Netherlands are linguists, slightly lower than the population of gays and lesbians, significantly lower than the population of any big cities in China, or, as some may call, China Mainland. Ah yes, that's where I come from. I will talk about that in next chapter hopefully, which is two weeks later, if you are lucky.

Dag~ Linguists. Yes I mean you.
