At first, I thought of going back and forth between Utrecht and Den Haag would not be easy for me. Everyday I have to wake up earlier than other students who live in or near Utrecht and I need to catch up 8.30 am train to Utrecht in order to get in class on time.
Why do I choose to live in Den Haag? Well, since it is not easy to find cheap place in Utrecht which I could afford, I have decided to live in my relative place. Despite of having a close relative to prevent me from feeling homesick, living in Den Haag and having to go to Utrecht everyday are really challenging for me. Sometimes, unexpected things (mostly is delayed train schedule) were happened when I least expect it. I have experienced 1 hour delayed train because there was a broken train in the railway, in front of the train I was in, thus we needed to wait to have it evacuated.
However, I do not really mind on going back and forth between Utrecht and Den Haag everyday. (As long as the 1 hour delayed train does not happen too often). Usually, I spend my 40 minutes time in train with catching some sleep or reading a book. I have to admit that despite many delayed schedule, public transport system in the Netherlands is very well managed. At first, I found it a little bit confusing. But after read this site, you will find out why I said that public transport system in the Netherlands is very well managed. Moreover, they have a special price for people like me who frequently use tram-train-bus in one package.
