About colorfull particles

It's amazing how nice the spring turn out to be. Too bad i am pretty busy this period. Some projects wait to be done and in two weeks some exam is coming. Still i hope i will find some time to enjoy the sun maybe go to the beach and feel the breeze again. Besides the beautiful nature, which i will always enjoy, studies are getting more interesting. I will show you how physicists try to make their world much more beautiful. In the past 50 years the phenomenology related to particles as constituents of the material world has developed a lot. A large number of particles were discovered, other are waiting to be discovered and some will never reveal to us. Scientists have disovered that the protons and neutrons, which together form the nucleus of any atom, are made of some smaller particles called quarks. At the moment we know 6 types of quarks which have nice names: up, down, charm, strange, truth (or top) and beauty (or bottom). So if someone tells you that beauty, truth and charm can make something together you should take it into account. But there is something special with these quarks. Besides electric charge they are characterized by some special charge that was called color. This property comes out clear from calculations. It's quite a complicated story which you can find in some expensive books and it's called chromodynamics. What is interesting about this is that each quark has a color and they combine to form a particle in such a way that the final color is white or better said the final particle is colorless. We cannot detect a single quark and we cannot detect colorfull particles. That's a pity. All we see is white. This is a subject we treat in one of the courses this semester. Now i have to go. The sun outside is waiting for me.
