I am now 3 months into my Master in Sustainable Development (SD) and I got to say: I love it, both Utrecht University and student life in this charming Dutch town. First of all I wanna sneize the chance to say thank you to the Alumni Office and all the donors of the Utrecht Excellence Scholarship fund, whose financial support made my UU study experience possible in the first place. I am really excited to study at one of the best universities in the Netherlands, Europe and the world and so far I am impressed by the scientific and academic quality of my Master programme. Though challenging and intense the design of my programme leaves sufficient time for developing and pursueing our own academic and extra-curricular interests. Since I am very much into sports I´m already involved in playing squash, basketball and football. The UU sports center Olympos provides a comprehensive offer of different sports and courses and the facilities are exemplary. Due to its location on the campus it is very convenient to simply drop by after classes and get rid of the energy accumulated during a long day of studying.
And if a long day of studying and sporting failed to get you exhausted, Utrecht´s vibrant night life with lots of bars, pubs and clubs is waiting to be discovered. Apart from that lots of recreational activities are offered by student associations such as ESN (Erasmus Student Network) or our SD intern studievereniging called STORM. So better get an "agenda" to organize yourself and never miss a scheduled appointment.
So far my first introduction about my 3 months old UU study experience, which has been a very promising start into my Master. I hope you are going to enjoy reading this blog and check for new stories about our time here in Utrecht every once in a while. If you have any questions please don´t hesitate to ask.
Tot ziens!
Andreas
