About me

I would also like to write a little bit about me and what I am studying at Utrecht University and why I choose to puruse a MA in Conflict Studies and Human Rights.

I did my undergraduate studies in the Universidad San Francisco de Quito in Quito, Ecuador where I majored in International Relations. The reason I choose IR was my interest in global politics and current events. During my studies I took part in interesting classes raning from international security to international law to conflict resolution. I participated in a number of Model United Nations and I attended two National Model United Nations Conferences in New York City with my university. As a result of these years and with a desire to change the world around me, I decided to apply to master programs abroad in the field of conflict studies.

I applied to Utrecht University due to the particular program of Conflict Studies and Human Rights which was unique and also a perfect fit to what I aspired to do with my life. Thanks to the scholarship offered to me by the University I was able to attend. The Conflict Studies and Human Rights Program is a very competitive program whihc has been a challenge to me but from which I have learned a lot and which has opened my perspective in many ways. The first term focused on the analysis of conflict as well as conflict, politics and policies and the second term brought in the human rights aspect to conflict. All of these classes have provided me with the necessary tools to become a conflict analyst in the future. Not only have I learned from my professors but I have also learned a lot from my classmates who have brought with them diverse backgrounds and experiences. My program consists of 40 individuals who are each remarkable in their own way and who I trust will get very far in life and in the carreers. I believe that I share with them a drive to mae a difference and to change the world which we have before us. This might sound very idealistic to some but I think it is a step in the right direction at least.

On that note, I would like to wish everyone happy holidays!
