Well, now this was a great match, hands down! although I am not a fan of football, I was dragged along by a friend of mine to the city center to watch the match in one of the pubs, Dutch style! yeah, you read it right, dutch style; wearing a ridiculously bright orange shirt! At first, I was very hesitant to step outside looking ridiculously orange... But when I realized that I wasn't the only one with a ridiculous outfit, I felt a bit relieved. As the bus rolled towards the city, I could see everything becoming more and more orange. Walking down the lane in Neude square, I saw people flocking the pubs in the hundreds. It took quite a long walk to find a nice n cosy place to settle in. But the cosiness I was looking for was shot lived... It soon got so crowded that it almost felt like the pub was overflowing with people! Then the real party began when the dutch team walked, or rather ran, into the field... Blaring miniature trumpets and dutch football songs in choir resounded the atmosphere for quite a while! By the time everyone in the pub were beginning to settle with big mugs of beer, there it was, the first goal... The pub literally erupted into a galore of emphatic gestures! The second and the third goals were equally exciting to the assembled crowd. In the end, we all left the pub with an emphatic look on our faces which was clearly visible underneath the orange paint! the drinks, the crowd, the atmosphere, the match and the colour orange made the evening quite surreal and unforgettable!!!
