Bean Town

Hello again, this time from Boston, MA!.. Remember the REMS program that I was writing about recently? Before going to Nashville, I first came to Boston to stay in one of my best friends from high school. She studies and works in Boston and will begin her PHD on macroeconomics at John Hopkins University next year. I’m really proud of her (she also had her master’s degree from Harvard University by the way J)! Since years I always wanted to see her life in US and now I feel so lucky to see what she’s doing, where she’s living and who her friends are.. However since she’s working, I’m walking around the city on my own during the day and meeting her in the evenings for dinner. Since two days I’ve been walking incredibly so much that today my whole body hurts. Anyways, Boston is a great student city where many of the Ivy League schools are. It has a really young population and you can see students everywhere. Yesterday, I’ve been to Cambridge which is famous with its squares. The town is divided into small neighborhoods which are themselves divided into a matrix of squares. The most famous and popular of these is Harvard Square. Time Out guide of Boston describes it as a people-watcher’s paradise as the bustle of aristocratic Harvard students, mohawked punks, camera-toting tourists, homeless panhandlers and businesspeople creates a diverse and colorful street scene. It was really beautiful but now I should hurry up to go to Boylston Street to catch the Celtics parade! They are the champions, you know!!
