Finding the right program

Finally, after two months of intense studying, I finished my first period in the International Joint Master Programme in Sustainable Development. This first two months here have been of adjusting and integrating to this new life, getting used to the teaching methods, the language, and making new friends.

What made me come to study in the Netherlands was the Master Program. I am from Ecuador, South America and I did my bachelor degree in Biology. I was always interested in continuing my education, especially in areas dealing with the management of natural resources, the promotion of equality, the reduction of social disparities, and the sustainable development of communities and developing countries, specifically my own country. I only needed to find just the right program and a scholarship.

What attracted me the most about the program was its multidisciplinary approach and the fact that I can do the second semester abroad in a partner university. I think that a more complete perspective of the global reality will allow me to work towards a more sustainable world.

I feel privilege to have had the opportunity to come and study here. For a lot of people in Ecuador to study a post graduate program is not too common, even less to do it abroad. This is a great opportunity, not only to acquire a lot of knowledge that will definitely be useful to apply in my country, but also to experience life in a completely different world for me.

  1. Hi Daniela. My name is Gabriela Flores and I am from Ecuador as well. I am interesting in applying for International Economics Program at Utrecht. At this time I am on the way of the application process so I would like to know if you could help me out with some tips and share the experiences you had. My email is magabi.flores@live.com . It would be awesome for me if we can chat or something!

  2. Greetings Daniela!!! I have just stumbled with this blog after following a link on an UU email I just got. Anyway, it's been some months since you are in Utrecht so you probably already know your way there, but if there is anything I can help -as an Ecuadorian who also studied in UU- feel free to ask (M.G.AceboPlaza@students.uu.nl).

    Tot ziens,

    Mauro
