Being Orange!

Hello!!! Well, this time I would like to share something about the influence the Netherlands had on me. Since the past 5 months that I have been here, I had the opportunity to visit a lot of places in the Netherlands; Rotterdam, Amsterdam, Delft, Leiden and Groningen to name a few. Saw a lot of culture, learnt a bit of Dutch and believe it or not, I even caught the Dutch accent! After seeing some of these cities more than once, I felt like I have been here for quite a long time. Here's an incident: There was this old lady in Amsterdam who approached me and asked me for directions to the Anne Frank House which I could tell her, including the tram number, how to reach the place without a doubt. The more I see of the Netherlands, the more integrated I feel into the Dutch culture, or so it seems to me. Well, I did not even have a Culture shock when I arrived here for the first time, I kind of seeped into the culture unknowingly over time. Now, I dont drive a car or bike like I did in India, but instead I ride a bicycle; I prefer Dropjes over snickers; I no longer eat typical Indian food like Rice and curry, instead I eat bread with KAAS like a typical Dutchman!
