I just got a mail from Marco Houterman (Alumni Office - Utrecht University) telling that the site has been visited many times since we began to write our blogs. The nice thing about it is that readers are from all around the world. It was already expected that people from the Netherlands, Mexico, Turkey and India would visit the site but it seems that the site has been visited also from many different countries such as USA, Canada, Brazil, Ghana, Zambia, Spain, and Indonesia etc. (This is actually an indicator of the fact that the graduates of Utrecht University are living everywhere all around the world.) This made me realize that the scope of the alumni magazine is much bigger than I was thinking and that it is reaching so many graduates even though they are not living in the Netherlands. I think it would be very nice to get some reaction to what we are writing from these readers from abroad. That’s a pity!.. However, sometimes I’m getting reactions from the young graduates and master students that I see in the campus, which is quite nice.. ( And actually it is funny to be recognized by people that I don’t know at all..) Anyways, it’s also interesting to see that international students who have somehow heard about the weblog are reading what we are writing. I could even say that this weblog is helping international students to have an informal network between each other. I guess I have a good example for that. A few days ago I got a mail from a second year MERM student from Mexico saying that she had a look at our weblog and saw that Luli is also from Mexico and that she would like to get in contact with her to talk in Mexican time to time. Well I just sent her Luli’s mail address and I hope they get together to chat a little in their own languague.. Well so I believe we are doing a good job by writing to this weblog.. That's all for now, this friday we have a reception for the fund raising project of UES, hopefully we'll get some reactions there too..
